ive been to longlife exhausts today for a quote.they said my van may not need a cat and will pass mot without one any thoughts please

well slightly irrelevent info :!: ive had 2 cars and removed the cats and still passed the mot emmissions, mondeo 2.0 and xr3i 1.8 :D

neither were mk6 transits tho :lol:

I thought if the cat was fitted new, it would have to be there. Maybe if it makes no difference to the immissions it doesn't matter. If that's the case, what's the point of having them in the first place?

You wont need a CAT to pass the MOT.

It's not down to an MOT inspector to say that you can remove a piece of equipment that is there to reduce emissions!

we knocked the insides out with a brush handle :lol: from the outside it looked like the cat was still there :D

doesn't have to have a cat but it must meet the emission levels (lots of petrols can do this without the cat)

in the case of a diesel take it off and as said knock out the insides it'll give you a marginally better top end and it'll still pass the test no problem

i have removed the cat from my car a diesel 306 w reg and it passes mot fine mot inspector has told me you dont need one on a diesel 8) it just needs to pass the smoke test :D revs more freely 8)
