Red Key question

Postby Iceberg » Wed Mar 07, 2007 3:07 pm

Hi All,

Please can someone give me a heads up about the immobiliser fitted to a Mk6 2.0 diesel (assuming there is one?)

From reading the forum I understand that the Mk5's had a red key which is the master and is used to program new slave keys. Is this the same with the Mk6? Does the remote fob now disarm the immobiliser?

I ask as I didn't get a red key with it only keys with a blue stripe on them.

I presume there's no alarm fitted as BT would have had the most basic model available, but hopefully the immobiliser is standard on all models.

Any info gratefully received as always.

Cheers,
Jason

P.S.
I've put some pics of the old girl on the gallery page :D

You don't get a red key with the Mk6's.

Fab, thanks for the swift response.

There is an immobiliser though isn't there? Does the remote disengage it, or is it the key?

Cheers,
Jason

Yes the van still has PATS and is still activated by the key.
