Do you have the seller's details threw paypal? Defeats the purpose but you could pay him a visit, I heard somewhere ebay will be doing away with paypal shortly, then how do you pay for the goods? Can't imagine buying a couple of cheep light bulbs from China with my card

As it stands at the moment the ebay seller motormad1112 has just phoned me and said that this company https://www.paisleyfreight.com/large-goods.php booked it in with him & then cancelled the booking because they do not cover his area  . He has agreed to refund me tonight my full money but if he don't then straight in the morning then i will get on to paypal.
Just peed off now as back to square one no tailgate.
Couldn't imagine ebay doing away with paypal but if they do then it just goes to show too many scams :D

Ebay aren't "doing away" with Paypal, Ebay are splitting from Paypal and becoming two separate companies, but you will still continue pretty much "as you were" as far as using paypal to pay for your Ebay purchases

Yes, they are trying to expand PayPal as a business, and they can't do that whilst they are so tightly linked as companies. EBay use of PayPal will continue as it is. i.e. as a nightmare for sellers.
