will not start!!

Postby ems.h » Thu May 28, 2015 10:33 pm

hello, new to forum. although I come here quite often.

have a 2006 lwb transit. 2.4td (engine code = H9FB)

fitted a new EGR valve, injector seals, rocker cover gasket and seals, and now it wont start.

was told that if injectors are denso, then you have to code them (even if you've only had them out and not new ones) . have to have the engine running to be able to code them though.
have taken a fuel line off, that goes from the fuel pump to the fuel rail. cranked it over and there is no fuel coming out. there is enough fuel in the tank. starting to think fuel pump, but would be hell of a coincidence if it was. no codes on scanner either.

anyone else had similar issues? any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, Emyr.

Welcome to the forum :D

H9FB - 140ps

Providing you have refitted injectors in the same order they were removed when replacing seals.
Then they don't require reprogramming to PCM (coding injectors to engine ECU)

If they have been jumbled up. Then they will require reprogramming to PCM & engine does not have to be running to do it.
You will require a suitable OBDII device to program injectors to PCM & to perform pump & Injector learn.

As you have removed & refitted pipes & fuel rail etc, system will require bleeding

Cheers for the reply

Injectors did not get mixed up, only had pipes and injectors off, did not take the rail off

Have the snap-on modis ultra.

Originally did think there was just a lot of air in the system, but there is no fuel coming from the pump

Injectors need coding yes but if not coded the van will still run 90% the same.
These are high pressure so the system wants to be sealed and the fuel filter brimmed to the top with fresh fuel then crank it over then check the filter again, if it is half full then the pump is sticking fuel which is good, repeat the procedure etc, you can put the 2 left filter head pipes into a2l pop bottle of fuel and it'll be less work for the pump to get fuel through and hopefully run, then refit filter head pipes and try again.

Presuming you've opened the system enough for fuel to drop back to the tank?
Filter heads fail too :-(
