Mk6 TDDi running lumpy and lots of smoke

Postby binge » Fri May 29, 2015 8:07 am

My 51 reg Mk6 TDDi (2.0) was fine up until last week. We moved house with the two Transits, and I parked the Mk6 up on my drive way for a week.
Decided to move it the other day, and it wouldn't start. Battery didn't have the guts to turn it over.
So I whacked the leads on it, and turned it over until it fired up. It started, ran very lumpy (like a petrol does when you pull a lead off), and it was pumping out thick smoke (blue/white colour I guess).
It is also down on power, and although it will boost, it doesn't rev up like it should.

I have a question regarding the air intake set up. On the airbox, there is/was a red, yellow and green cylinder on the top of it. There is also one on the fuel filter. What are these?
One has pipe work going down to a solenoid type thing beside PAS belt, and connects back up to what looks like the EGR valve. (I had a very brief look at it last night).

Reason I ask, is the Airbox is currently removed as I have been repairing the inner wing on that side. It ran for a good 50 miles without this pipe connected to the airbox though, would that suddenly cause it play up now?

I cracked off all 4 injectors, one at a time last night, and all 4 are getting generous amounts of derv, so I'd like to think I can rule out the fuel pump.

Anyone had this with theirs? I need to get it down to work really so I can plug it in, but I've currently got half the garden dug up and it's piled infront of the van!

Just a note to add. I've got an EGR blanking plate fitted (It's been on there 18 months).

The red yellow green things are service indicators, though in my experience they are crap.

Have you actually taken it for a proper drive since it wouldn't start?
If not do so, ten miles at least, then report back, before changing/ trying anything else
