Screw holes in floor!

Postby motovanner » Thu Jun 18, 2015 12:17 pm

The previous owner has had things screwed into the van floor and removed these items leaving screw holes scattered around that I can see daylight through!

What's the best way of sealing these up and to make sure they are not the source / start of rust / corrosion in the van floor.

Many thanks any any ideas / advice.

Just set a "pop rivet" in the hole and seal the underside with sealant/underseal or waxoyl :)

Tigerseal !

Either on pop rivets or if the holes are too big just on it's own.

Ideally clean the underside of the holes to expose a good clean ring of paint around the hole then spread the tigerseal 10mm onto the existing underseal.

mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

I sanded mine back to clean metal, painted over with red oxide paint, then a coat of hammeright and finally fiberglassed over each hole to keep the water out. Its important to clean them back to clean metal first.
