mk7 115, rough idle . is a SRV/PRV always required?

Postby kobe » Thu Jun 18, 2015 2:58 pm

my second transit ( a '08 mk7 115 2.4 lwb) has started to show signs of rough idle.

I'm a aware of this being a common fault as I've read on this forum much about it plus I had the PRV and SCV changed on my '56 mk7 last year with the same symptoms and once kindly fitted and put through IDS by "loot" from this forum all was good . thanks again Loot :D :D !

so my question is, does the rough idle always require a new SCV/PRV or have there been cases of the rough idle bring cured by simply running a pump learn and update etc via IDS.

Thanks :-)

Regarding rough idle it is possible that other things could affect it however, i would expect there to be other associated problems like boost leak or maybe running a bit poorly or something else that makes you think that generally the van is unwell.

I have done a few pump learns on mine since i do a fair bit of programming to it :o and it always benefits immediately if not for the long term.

Hunting is pretty specific to the fuel system and pcm trying to compensate for lack of fuel rail pressure consistency, I'd love to be able to say that it isn't the scv but tbh if the van has had a service and the egr is good and the front battery is good then by all means try a pump and injectors learn but it should by rights fail the learn, if not then the prv is probably intact but the scv is just losing the plot, it probably would continue hunting shortly after i would say.

My 115 was doing this the other week after a 260 mile trip. I did a pump and pilot learn and all is well so far.
I will change the scv and prv soon but its ok for now.
