57 plate ford transit side door lock

hi.

i have an ongoing problem with the central locking on my transit side door only.

the side door sometimes locks and opens fine with the central locking but every so often [1 in about 5] when unlocking the van the side door mechanism make a grinding sound but doesnt unlock - so i have to go through the back door and unlock it from the inside and then close it, lock it and unlock it again and it works.

any help would be appreciated, as its very annoying lol.

Check the contact pins and plate are clean make a good connection, when it happens, lock again and put a bit info pressure on the area where the contacts are and try and open again.

But it's not unknown for the mechanism to fail itself
