van not starting

van not starting

hi all ive got a transit 300 swb 55 plate 1998 diesel and went out this morning and van turned over but sound very slow and wierd and i turned the key of and on again and it done the same and now when i turn the key there is nothing any ideas what is wrong i would appreciate any feed back thanks Denis

Hi Dennis a good place to start is the battery, if it is old then it might be failing. Have it tested and if failing replace it :-)

But the dash lights come on and the key fob still works

Yes bit it takes a hell of a lot less power to work them than the starter.
But here's a good test, hold your front lights on main beam while trying to start the engine and let us know what happens :-)

I did what you asked and the lights flicker when I try an start the van and the horn isnt as loud as it should be and were is the battery is it under the seat and the starter is clicking today were as yesterday there was nothing thanks for your time loot

Yes the battery is under the seat, check it for voltage, see if you can get a jump off jump leads to see if the extra power will start it up, if so then try putting the battery on charge, if that doesn't work then you'll have to replace the battery. :wink:
