Engine management light

Postby waynezbitz1 » Thu Jul 02, 2015 12:22 am

Driving through town this evening and my engine light has just come on. The journey home was about ten miles and every thing seems to be doing fine. No kncockiung no smoke and no loss of power. Is there any thing di!mplke I can look at and chech before I takevit into a garage and get it looked at? Also is it important I get it in immediately or would it be OK for a couple of days. The van is a 115 350 rwd on a 10 plate.

Best to get codes read to see what it throws up...otherwise you're just clutching at straws. Is it the round "cog" light or the engine light..??

OK...could be lots of things....I'm guessing it'll be EGR related.

As many here have found, it pays to get hold of a decent code reader so you can at least find out if the fault is safety related or not and deal with it as required....not knowing is the hard part..... Plus taking your pride and joy to the dealer every time a light pops up can get rather costly...

I have a code reader which lives in the van and quite a few of us also have a Ford IDS system so we can all do our own diagnostics/updates etc...pays for itself very quickly indeed, plus you have the convenience of doing it in the comfort of your own home without the need to travel to and then be bent over at the dealers....
