Mk7 2.2 turbo/intercooler pipe issues

Postby Dallaway164 » Wed Jul 01, 2015 5:51 pm

Hi guys, so my van (mk7 2.2 130 sport) has blown the big long intercooler - turbo connection thingy pipe off. It looks to me like it's been cut down before so ordered a new one in the hope that's the problem. The thing that concerns me is the amount of oil that's come out the turbo! I think a new one is due, so I was just wondering if a 140 sport turbo would fit? I've done a search but couldn't find anything.
I'm hoping the cut down pipe is the problem, I can't think why else it would blow it off? However I also wonder why it's been cut down?

Had to fit a new turbo hose to my Mk7 140 RWD not long back, was split close to where is attaches to the steel manifold/Map sensor housing. A small amount of oil is relatively normal, if you're worried about it, remove the intercooler and give it a wee clean out. Does your machine blow any blue/white smoke..??

Oil is meant to come from the turbo, if it didn't, it would quickly seize.
Pipe popping of is common on 130 and 140. Fit new pipe using good quality new jubilee clips are carefully cleaning all oil etc from metal pipe ends

Thanks for the replies. It doesn't smoke, not even on full chat so perhaps it's a normal amount of oil. Just looks worse cause it's sprayed out.
I don't suppose you would know what size jubilee clips they are? So I can get some good quality ones ordered.
The previous owner has put two together, on both ends!

I'm afraid I don't have a 2.2 130 Sport, so I can't really tell you what size they should be. Someone else may be along shortly to help you out.
