Transit tick over or idle speed

Postby pswarren » Fri Jul 03, 2015 10:15 pm

Ive got a Transit 59 plate done 60,000 miles 350 high top long wheel base van and am having an intermittent problem when slowing down say on approaching an island or junction that when I come down the gears to second and first and press the clutch in so for a few seconds im freewheeling the revs drop and the engine cuts out and so I lose the powered steering and all the light on the dash light up. This doesn't happen a lot maybe twice a day but can be awkward when cutting across a junction or island and you have turn the key off and then on again.

Check the front battery, check the prv on the fuel rail at the back, if it comes apart then replace it and the scv on the back of the fuel pump and do a pcm update and fuel/injectors learns etc on ids or equivalent.
Fit a new Ford/oe fuel filter if not done recently.

Check for fault codes using a diagnostic device prior to spending money.
Are any warning lights coming on the dash?

Many thanks for replying to my post much appreciated
No lights show until the engine has cut out, it only happens when you put your foot on the clutch to change gear and sometimes the bottom drops out of the revs. Sometimes you feel its going to stall and it doesn't occasionally it does and other times it stays at an idling speed of 850 and feels solid. Fuel pump changed recently.
