Hi all
Just brought a 57 plate fleet van as sold as seen. I test drove the van and it was fine. Drove it home and it has sat for a few days.
This morning I pulled away in it and could not get in to any other gears. The van is now stuck in first gear and will not come out. Any ideas please. Van is a rear wheel drive.

It could be a number of things, first thing that I would check would be the gear selector cables and work from there.....

Is the gear lever still tight?
You can unclip the cable ends to see if it is the cables or gearbox, you should put oil in the gearbox to see if it is empty, look for leaks too.

On a rwd the box will have to come out for that I think :-(

Hi all. Thanks for the replies.
Cables are working fine. The gear level is tight.
Can pull it out of first if you pull hard enough but slips back into first.
A friend of mine is going to have a look. Been told it could be the sector seized or the 10mm bolt inside has come out and fell into the gears. I'm hoping on the sector being seized.
Going to remove the prop and tow it his garage and take the box out. Whilst it's out I will change the clutch and flywheel. It annoying as I've only done 20 miles in it. Lol.

The 10mm bolt refers to the pre 2006 fwd box

My gearbox is still sat on the work bench :lol:

Might get round to stripping it down sometime but I doubt it :-(

Oh right. Thanks for that. Hope it just the gear selector then.
