local transit expert

Postby melv » Wed Jul 08, 2015 7:16 pm

Hi,
I have a 10 plate 85 T260M FWD and I seem to have the common fault of no power in low revs, stalling, switch off restart problem goes temporarily. Took it to my local Ford dealer ( Hendy Ford) who tell me it was a blocked fuel filter, which they replaced. Made no difference!! The service manager dismissed this forum as the "public talking to the public" and did not want to know when I tried to tell him what I thought the problem was..
I presume this is the common replace the scv, prv and a egr. My problem is if the local Ford dealer does not know what it is doing, where should I go. I live in the Portsmouth area. Thanks Guys.

to be honest the prv should have been sorted for your year but its not to say that this isn't the problem, injectors seem to be another problem with these and can cause the same issues although if the injectors have gone down the engine sounds a little harsh on tick over, how many miles has it done? and im not the public, I am a fully trained ford tech :D :D :D

It has done 88000. Sometimes when idling the revs seem to go up and down

Vapour valve?
He must mean the scv (listed as positive crankcase ventilation valve on the wiring diagram by the looks of it)
And prv and updates.

F*ck me 450?

It's fwd so the valves are easy enough to do.
Buy then it is an hour to fit and an hour for updates i suppose.

You could see what price you can get the prv and scv for (genuine) and ask a member on here to do it?

The only Hendys place I have found to be any good is the parts warehouse in Hedge End...

But I have only ever bought parts from Hendy, not any work done. I know there are a few good garages in pompey (used to deliver for a motor factors based in Fareham) but that was a few years ago now and I can't remember them!

ok guys had to have the prv and scv and a re calibration, tried to just buy the parts and get someone to do it but they already had the bits off so had to bite the bullet, £400 poorer! The bigger issue is that it took them 2 1/2 days to diagnose problem and fix so I lost a few days work. Will try this forum before I go there again. Thanks.
