dipped headlight dash light

2007 mk7 350 100 ELWB RWD

I presume I should get an indicator lamp come on the dash when I switch from side lights to dipped headlights?

The side light indicator light just stays on when I toggle between the two which doesn't seem right?

Only sidelights and main beam indicators.

Not sure why you think it's odd, been standard on most vehicles to only have a sidelight and a full beam indicator for many many years

My Skoda Fabia illuminates the dash when you put the side lights on, gives you a green 'dipped' icon for dipped and then a blue icon for full beam, the Golf is the same. The Convoy was the same too as I remember it.
