code reader for mk 7?

Hi everyone! Got a 2007 135 100ps 2.4 tdci converted to a camper van, I always like to fix things myself if I can so have been considering getting a code reader for when the inevitable happens! Any advice on what to look for welcome. Been thinking about one that can identify potential faults before they happen? Maybe up to £100? or would a cheapie be enough?

Any cheap reader will scan engine codes but ids clone will do everything, code keys, calibrate steering, code injectors etc etc.
Only downside is that you get it all installed on a laptop first, and it means booting your laptop up each time you want a play.
Cheap hand held readers are quick and handy for clearing get warning lamp tho

any IDS clone better than any other? Where can they be purchased?

There's 2 types of clone ids, 1 that works and 1 that doesn't
As for which 1 can be repaired well that is down to the seller
So the only advice i can give is ask the seller some questions and see if they reply.
