mk6 egr problem

hi all. van works fine until i decide to floor it. then the amber coil light starts flashing and the engine cuts out. turn the ignition off and on and everything works like before. cleaned the maf sensor but no change. the previous owner had modified it so it has a rwd 2.4 engine with 135bhp. one of the vacum pipes on the egr has been blanked off with a screw. i don't know what else he might have done to it. when i bought it 2.5 years ago it went fine. last year the problem started when i really pushed it over 70mph. now it will cutout as soon as you floor it.regardless of speed. you can still reach 70-80 mph if not loaded and driving really gently.
any idea what i need to do? should i change the egr vacum solenoid regulator. (what are those two solenoids behind the airbox called???)

Sound like he's blocked off the vacuum actuator that opens the egr, ppl like to disable the egr so that isn't a big worry, you can either leave it or put it back.

This problem you have seems to commonly be down to injectors
You should get the codes read and see what it says, if it isn't a wiring problem or something obscure that isn't very common then you'll probably be looking at getting the injectors tested.
