inlet manifold fwd mk7

Postby transity2000 » Wed Jul 15, 2015 11:36 am

so built my courage up to clean the inlet manifold up and blank egr before i got to martyn 2moro. removed air box .open the 5 top bolts on the inlet nice and easy.remove bolts of dipstick holder bolt snaped so i packed up.cant afford any more to snap as i dont have another vechile to use for work or to pick up replacement. nor tools to sort out damaged snapped bolts.
so my question is their a specalist garage any thing that open them up and clean them or just open it up and il clean it my self. aint got much space either as im on a road full of cars probably worst road ever.
any one know or any memebr willing to tackle it for me will pay
thanks

Just sit on the curb and do it mate :-) get a bin liner and open it and place the inlet in it open, then scrape away till your happy, brush and screwdriver etc maybe some wd40 or soapy water why, then tie the bin liner and throw (once you take the manifold out  )

It doesnt have to be like new just get the caked crap off so it looks clear. 8)

It's a shitty job! But well worth doing and no special tools needed :D

The bolts are steel and the block isn't so they should come out without any drastic measures :-)

Do it when the engines hot, that way it should help on removal of the bolts

What Punto said....also give the bolts a good spritz with WD40 or similar beforehand, might help a tad....also...wear gloves, it's a horrible messy job..!
