mk7 screen ventilation

Hi, Just become a transit owner and I need some advice. I have a 2010 Trend with aircon, when its raining the windscreen and the side windows mist up. When the air flow selector is set to screen very little air is directed to the screen or the side windows even when the fan is on full speed. I have spoken to a couple of people and have noticed that on a 2008 without aircon when the screen position is selected the two centre face vents cease to blow and the air is directed to the screen, thus clearing it. When I tried a 2012 Limited it behaved the same as mine i.e. hardly any air to screen or side windows but the centre face vents continued to blow. He seems to rely on the aircon to dry the air and hence demist the screen. Has anyone else had this problem? Apart from that so far its seems a good van. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
