Glowplug Light Flashing

Postby stustanley » Fri May 11, 2007 9:26 pm

The glow plug light is flashing on my 350lwb. Is there any way of finding out what the code is and the fault? With my old mr2 you could short two connections and count the flashes, a bit like morse code.

Also if anyone has any ideas of what to check, that would be great.

It had a split water hose which i've replaced, and its now holding its water but the light is still flashing. Not sure how long it had little water in it!!!! as the people i bought it from said it had always flashed!!!!!!!!!!!

Stuart

p.s. I've been told it has a replacement engine - i know i shouldn't have bought it but how else would my wife be right :-(

no flash codes from this - you'll have to get it on a scanner

Glow Plug Light Flashing

Postby stustanley » Thu May 17, 2007 1:48 pm

Put van into workshop today and they tell me that having put a scanner on it they have found that where the EGR goes there is a blanking plate with the wire that should go on the EGR just sitting there.
I recall reading that a lot of people have these taken off anyway to improve performance. Your thoughts?

Would this cause the light to flash?
Should i have the EGR fitted? pros/cons?
If I don't have it fitted is there a way of 'fooling' the system so it stops flashing?

Thanks
Stuart
