Postby alloageorge » Wed May 16, 2007 10:50 pm

have an 03 90 t350 long wheelbase van.
took off starter motor to clean and broke solenoid in process.(didnt know at time)
put starter back on but no dashboard lights when ignition turned on.
radio works.i also tried spare key , same thing. no starter turn and no dashboard lights.
changed starter motor. same problem. changed battery , same problem.
checked fuses under bonnet and under steering. all ok.
what next?

Was the battery disconected when you first/originally took off starter motor :?:

I don't know too much about MK6s, but you have either left off one of the smaller wires that are also connected to the battery terminal (that you never noticed) or you have somehow blown a fuse :(
Can't think what else it could be

Defo the right starter motor :?:

yep, sounds like you have dropped a wire off! have a look around battery, also around starter.

Starter

Postby algieboy » Thu May 17, 2007 12:21 pm

Check the connections on the starter You may have either mixed up the earth and live not connected the live back on the gearbox or failed to connect the soleniod wire back on. I have just done mine and its easy to mix a wire up or neglect one. Also give them a good clean before refitting them. Hope this helps.
