mk 6 front hub and bearing.

i am trying to change the bearing unit in the front left of my van (rear wheel drive, mk 6. 2.4 turbo, 90/350 )
i have got the bearing out of the wheel station but am unable to sepperate the hub part from the inside of the bearing ( the bit the wheel bolts onto ). have taken the big bolt out the middle and tried everything from sledgehammer to wedges to seperate them but to no availle.
do i have to find someone with a hydralic press or is there some other way?
thanks for any ideas guys i'm sure someone will know.
