I think dean there will be load's more mk6 owners read this than potential thieves!!! so on balance your doing more good than harm if you can help the owners do something about it! :D

I can understand Dean's concern, but I hope he understands that unfortunatley it's likely more thieves than owners know about breaking into vans, otherwise nbody woudl be suprised when it happens. I agree with Luke, if we get to know, we can do something about it.

The recall didn't actually reprogram anything, it simply cut a single cable to the Central security Module behind the dash.

The rework stopped the signal sent to the module when a pikey cut through the loom thus stopping the rest of the door motors from operating. The cable in question was an unused circuit from the first months of production when the Transit 2000 had a rear door barrel.

The recall didn't however stop the little gits from messing up a £60 loom though, so a steel shield was created.
