newbie......

hi all, just bought a 2004 85ps t280 swb with tailgate, and A/C - which actually works.... and FFSH

very impressed with it so far, as i've always been a bit anti-ford, (certainaly car-wise) anyhow. but after looking around initially i wanted a Vito, but after sitting in, and driving the tranny, i think the original is defiantely the best, and never been beaten by competitors. it also seems to pick up almost as well as my 2.0 petrol primera.

What sort of fuel consumption can i expect?

Now for some serious bits.

interior lights are either on, or off. I've found a section on the forum, about opening and closing the drivers door 5-8 times, to set diagnostic mode, i'm already suspecting the SLD, before i do this.

secondly, the remote fob. blue button is tailgate only - i'm surprised it isn't linked to the sld.

black unlock - front doors and SLD - which surprised me

Lock - push once, and it only locks to front doors, push twice (deadlocks) and it locks the SLD too. My Q is, is this normal, or do i have a fault somewhere. if this is wrong, then i suspect that the fault lies with the SLD again. i'm off out to have a fiddle, and will let you all know how i get on.

My fob's blue button unlocks SLD and rear doors. Pressing the lock button does as yours, and pressing the unlock button once does cab doors and twice all doors. There are two lights in my cab, the rearmost is linked to the load doors the frontmost for cab only. If you leave the interior light switch in position rearwards my liights go off after an extended period even if the load bay doors are open. Mine have three positions, forwards permanently on, middle - off, and rearwards - opening doors. Air con - what luxury! I have a 2001 built 100T280 FWD medium roof SWB. Even with motorway driving and hard acceleration I'm getting 30mpg. Like you I was anti ford but the Transit seems more solid and better put together than it's competitors. Plus so popular that parts, repair and advice are freely available. I'm on my second after my initial 1999 T80 failed it's mot due to rot underneath (only had it five months - lesson learned) and I would readily buy another when this one is uneconomic to run. For once an ad campaign was right - they are the backbone of Britain! My only complaint is that metal bulkheads aren't standard.

I've got a bulkhead in mine.

All madaies are now cured, took less the 30mins to do both.

found the SLD light switch, towards the rear, of the opening, pushed it in and out a few times, and it worked perfectly.

the locking problem, was due to the ply-lining obstructing the manual door lock, the circular knob inside at the rear of the SLD, causing it not to operate, a bit of modification with a jigsaw cured that. All is fine, and i'm happy.

if only my nissan was that easy to fix when things go wrong!!!!!!
