Door lock barrel replacement

Postby Olliec » Fri Aug 09, 2019 7:58 am

Trying to replace the driver's door lock barrel with a hykee lock but can't remove the original lock as I don't have the key so can't push the retaining pin in.

Any ideas on how the key the old lock out please.

So I've been and bought a tibbe lock pick to try and pick the lock but still no joy.
I've watched countless videos on how to do it but I still can't get it to work.
Getting fed up of try so I'm thinking of drilling the lock out but I've never done this before and don't want to get it wrong and make things worse for myself.
How do I go about drilling the lock?
Does it leave much mess inside the door?
I really don't want to damage anything in the process.

No pros in your neighbourhood?

1. Remove the 3 torx screws.
2. Remove the retaining clip.
3. Push lock out as furthest as possible.
4. Put some tape around the lock.
5. Carefully with a hacksaw. Cut the face off.

That should give you enough clearance to remove the lock mechanism completely from the door. Then it’s a matter of using
Different drill bits. You’ll have to drill it on a diagonal to get to the retaining pin.

I have to do this recently myself.

Cheers.

Glad you couldn't get it to work. Don't outright post about all that mate. Unless you want some scumbag to use the forum for research!

Jay2018 if you've got nothing useful to say, maybe you're better keeping your opinions to your self.
Know where am I'm giving out any information on how to break into a vehicle, I'm simply asking how to replace a lock.
Most thieving scum bags will just put a brick through the window to get in and won't worry about the lock.
Thanks for your advice though.
