Fuel Related Issue, Drivetrain Light Power cut...

Postby RussRST » Thu Feb 27, 2020 9:24 pm

For a little while now i've had an issue where sometimes around 2k rpm power would be cut and i would get the powertrain light up. Restarting the engine fixes it for so long then it comes back.

I read off the following codes...

I did some research and decided to buy a denso srv and prv as my symptoms seemed to point at these. Anyway they came in the post and i then realised my engine 2.2 2013 doesn't seem to have a SRV on the fuel rail? and the prv on the fuel pump was different. So i'm not waiting on a replacement prv coming in the post to try that and use forscan to do relearns etc.

Am i missing something or is this likely to fix my problem? The fuel filter is only a year old.

Thanks

2013 is Euro-5....completely different animal and don't have SCV or PRV like the Euro-4.

Ok i've bought this which looks to be the same as the one fitted to my fuel pump?

Is that not a PRV? or am i getting mixed up?

Anyway will the part i've got solve my issue?

Thanks

PRV = Pressure Relief Valve....yours doesn't have one like the Euro-4.

The one you bought is a pressure regulator, more akin to the SCV of the Euro-4.

I know little about the Euro-5's l'm afraid.

Most pressure problems on Euro 5 are caused by knackered injectors

Ok, so is there a way to test the injectors? Is it still worth me fitting that part? I'm also going to rule out sh*t in the fuel filter even though its only a year old i've not opened it up. I do admit to having a bad habit of running the tank low before refilling.

Ok so I changed that part and it’s made no difference if anything it’s slightly worse sometimes stalling when I come to junctions going into first. Yet it isles ok.

I’m ready to burn the b*stard.

This is an additional code since changing the pressure regulator - might put the old one back on...

Powertrain light is now coming on when decelerating and stalling at junctions.

Well turns out after all that i swapped the fuel filter for a new one and seems to be fine. Didn't consider the old one to be too bad visually but can't say i know exactly what i'm looking at.

When was it last changed..?? Many people just ignore it as it sits there apparently doing nothing.

2 years ago, i do have a bad habit of running the tank low so i'm sure that wouldn't of helped. But i was still expecting to see a lot more crap in there for how it was behaving.

Since brimming the tank though i've got a new problem haha. Fuel leak from the top of the tank somewhere from some online searching it looks like it could be a breather hose. I'll run the tank down and drop it and have a look.
