If you heard loud wailing then, it was me!!

May have to try a cheaper option.
What are they like to take out?

The turbo has got a bit of play in, but impellers seem intact.

However, I can't say the same for bottom end! I managed to get the sump off, well of enough so I can have a look inside. I'm no master mechanic, but I'm pretty sure there is not supposed to be bits of metal in there? Feels like a gravel pit at the bottom!!

Yep, looks like the bearings or a piston may have lunched themselves.

I'm struggling to get someone to do the work on the van, as everyone seems to be saying 8 to 14 weeks!

I've had a quick look on etis, and it says need to remove balljoints and control arms to remove engine.

Or, could anyone direct me to someone in Merseyside area who could whip engine out or do the job for me?

Has anyone got any guides as how to remove please? I've got the front end off, but don't really want to go any further in case i can't go all the way.

Sometimes the learning curve can be quite steep but well worth learning. The motor advertised for £2395 could possibly be the cheaper way to go by the time the knackered engine is pulled apart and components checked/replaced it's going to be a hefty bill and you still have the engine that confidence has been lost in. Best of luck, hope you get it sorted quickly.

I was looking at getting that to be honest as it would give me time to tinker with my original engine.

The sneaky bugger says it's plus vat though in listing description!
