Injector firing order

Postby Panic_state » Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:21 pm

Hi im just about to replace my injectors and I've got to code them in using forscan however looking at the diagram its a little confusing as to what firing order it goes in now I understand that from the front Cylinder 1-4 left to right but I cannot find a definitive order that I need to code them in as in firing order to what cylinder its a euro 5 some say 1423 others say 1324 other 1432 some off euro4 aswell its all a little confusing ive looked everywhere the Internet ford diagrams etc still no clue ...

If fordcan is setup like IDS then just follow the instructions, it will be very clear.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Thank you both very much really appreciate the help i was stressing i wouldnt get them in the right order
So when I code them just so I get it right
1 cylinder = injector 1
2 cylinder = injector 4
3 cylinder = injector 3
4 cylinder= injector 2
So when I code them in I see there is a box you write them in number 1 -4 am I coding them in to each cylinder or firing order christ it makes my brain hurt

Please could someone clarify as I've just fitted new injectors, I have coded them and done the pump and learns (which completed) but it is running rough and I wonder if this is my issue.

mine is a RWD so looking at the front of the engine (one being the closest cylinder to you) I coded them as follows:

Cylinder 1 (closest to me) = injector 1 value
Cylinder 2 = injector 2 value
Cylinder 3 = injector 3 value
Cylinder 4 (bulkhead) = injector 4 value

But I'm now thinking this is wrong and explains why it's running like a bag of nails, any advice appreciated.

You say you've done the "Pump" learns....but have you done the "pilot and injector" learns...?? If not it will never run correctly. Forscan is pretty clear as to which injector is which and which cylinder is which.

Were the SCV and PRV also replaced..??

Yes I've done all the learns, I have not replaced the PRC or SCV this time round but I have replaced them in the last 12 months with genuine parts (and done the appropriate reset and learns).

Still I have the question: forscan labels the cylinders 1-4 left to right (not firing order), so should the injector value match the cylinder order as shown by forscan or the firing order?

To clarify: in the photo, injector one is the closest to the front (slam panel) and injector 4 is the rear (bulk head) and I should be inputting the value for injector one at the front (slam panel) into line number 1 and so on. And not firing order. (RWD van)

Please could I also confirm that once the injectors have been recoded there are just two procedures to carry out:

Fuel injection pump learn followed by fuel injector pilot correction learn?

To code in with forscan it's not the actual firing order, the diagram is simple as it shows 1234 so it gets coded 1234
4 being as shown at the flywheel end
front to back RWD 1234
left to right FWD 1234

Thanks for this, this is what I thought and have coded it this way, sadly still running rough so not sure what I'm doing wrong. The only thing I can think of is that I have made a mistake when numbering the injectors and codes.

The refurbished injectors each came with their test paperwork specifying their new correction codes. The new correction codes are not stamped on the injectors so I labelled each injector as I took it out of the packet, or at least I thought I had, maybe I got one wrong? Either way, I've tried the pump learn followed by the injector learns several times, I've noticed mild improvements but it's still sounding like a bag of nails.

A leak off test indicated I had a couple of bad injectors, seals were leaking, MPG was poor and performance seemed low for a 140 so I plumped for a set of refurbished injectors.

No joy as yet, two of the injectors have the codes printed around the top, these match how I've coded them so it's unlikely that I've made a mistake in labelling which injector came with which bit of paperwork. Injectors are still rattley and poor MPG

Don't know if these cylinder balances mean anything?
