gear select problems after a while of driving mk6

Hi, all, my mk6 04 transit drives ok for 5 - 10 miles then develops gear select problems, it either wont go into gear at all, struggles to go into gear, or occasionally sticks in gear, if i turn the engine off it goes in and out of gear no problem and if i leave the van off for 5 minutes its ok again albeit for a shorter time. I've checked there's gearbox in (which there is) and it doesn't look bitty or anything but i haven't tried changing the gearbox oil. When I first start the van from cold in the morning the gears do 'seem' ok, though not as smooth as my other mk6 was but perfectly selectable. the problem seems to happen when I've been driving for a while and hit traffic, ie coming to a busy island at the end of a dual carriageway. Any input much appreciated thanks

Thanks for reply, not the same problem though, when i turn the ignition off the gears select fine so there isnt a problem with the selector, plus the problem goes away as the van cools down, the more i think about it im thinking it may be pressure plate? i might just take the plunge and get a clutch fitted
