non reving mk6 2.4

Hi picked up a old mk6 lwb with a 2.4 engine, but it struggles to rev up, however if you take the pipe off the egr valve from the intercooler then it revs fine, i was advised to take of intercooler and pipe and soak in deisel clean it out which i did. refitted today and its the same wont rev up is being held back. anyone have any ideas what it could be?

take the pipe from the air filter to the turbo off, see if it revs, thatll rule out the filter/box, take the pipe off the turbo to intercooler, if it revs then the turbos dodgy or someones put it back together wrong, theres a tiny little dowel when its being refitted that needs to be in the right place

hi sorry for late reply if i take off pipe from egr to intercooler it revs fine so replaced intercooler thinking that but still the same so im thinking egr valve ???

i have cleaned egr but made no differance do we think egr?? im happy to buy one but cant find one its a 2.4 and its the big egr with sensor screwed into the body transit is a 02 plate anyone know where could get one thats not ford as silly money.

The intercooler to egr pipe does split, but it,ll still rev, just run a bit crap with lots of black smoke puffs. Unlikely to be the egr as almost everyone doesnt want shite going back into their engines and either blocks it off or unplugs the air hose and sticks a screw in it. Same effect. Undo the turbo to intercooler pipe, see if it revs, then undo the airbox to turbo.... have you checked your air filter isnt a lump of papier macher, as it can be ?

my filter was in bits so new one in, just dont get why if i take egr pipe to intercooler off revs as normal hence why was thinking egr?

Then egr to engine is fine, try taking the other pipes off

hi ive taken large pipe off air filter didnt rev great, also took pipe off it from intercooler to turbo reved up fine same as when i took pipe of the egr when pipe removed revs up ???

Take the small pipe on the egr off, the one that goes to the valve on the rad cowl and see if it makes a difference

will look tomorrow van not kept at mine, would that be the boost solenoid? i had a vivaro before that wouldnt rev was fine after it was changed

Take off the 2 bolts at the front end of the turbo that hold on the plastic bit, stick yer finger in there and see if the turbine spins freely without clatering the sides

could be well off here but was thinking as air filter was in bits could that got to the turbo? i cant understand why it revs fine when you take a pipe off intoducing more air?

The valve thats bolted to the rad cowl is fubar and its pulling thes egr on Leave the pipe disconnected till you get a replacement
