I assume it's RWD..?? You don't say.

If RWD it's either the diff gears themselves or the diff bearings...There is no easy fix. Replacing the whole axle assembly is usually the easiest option. Silly question.....have you actually checked the diff oil..??

If FWD...it's a gearbox out job.

its a rwd.its ok for oil.
just wondered if there was another grade of oil that would help.
put new bearings, discs and pads in but diff is still loud.
thanks just the same.

If the diff gears or bearings are noisy....no amount of diff oil will help.

Have you tried replacing the oil? Probably won't fix it but in the past I have replaced the diff oil on a car and it was noticeable better.

You used to be able to get a additive to add to the oil to help .an load trick of doggie car sales used to be add sawdust to the oil . I have adjusted the backlash on the crownwheel and pinion with a DTI gauge in the past and it has helped a lot that was on mk 2&3 on the ones that come out of the front of the axle .A workmate did the same on a twin wheel mk 2 and that was ok. But if you do do it and get it over tight it will sound horrendous and fubar it .oh and I’ve put hypoid 140 gear oil in before and that helps .
