2.2 mk7 engine temp thermo

Postby tranmx2 » Sun Nov 28, 2021 1:07 am

Does anyone know?

No info' found in the wk shp ml that I have.

Foscan - shows the engine coolant temp' when at operating temp' with the vehicle moving to be 68 to 80 C. The gauge needle is vertical.
The 26 yr old A6 runs at 90C.

At what temp' do the 2.2 mk7 engines run at?

No info' in wk shp ml.
At what temp' does the thermo' open/close?
2012 MK 7 E 5 100-350 3.5 XLWB RWD Duratorq 2.2L CR TC 14 DSL 100/125 PS E5 DPF BCM PCM RCM
Was DRRB 74 KW 100 HP 100 cv. Now CYR5 125 HP. PCM could still be for 100 HP.

Vertical is normal, which looks like 90°c to me, what's the problem

Do the Euro-5's have a cyl head temp sensor like the Euro-4's..?? I don't think they do...??

The parts list doesn't show one.

Knobby thanks for the Catcar link.
Did not find any other sensors than the one fitted to the thermo housing. Did not find cab heater either.

The A6 has a head temp sensor which starts the fans. The fans are electric motors. There are about 5 sensors on the coolant system.

Looks like the van coolant fan has a thermo clutch. Need to have a feel and see what happens - prior to cold start and at coolant op' temp'.

That's because maybe you are on the wrong page

This page shows a list of other pages according to engine type..scroll down:

http://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l= ... EzMw%3D%3D

From here you will find the thermostat housings ..that have the temperatures sensor screwed into them.

Thanks metalworker0 for putting on the right link.

Did find the thermo housing with the sensor on top.

What determines where to look on Catcar?

Europe - Transit TT9 2006 2014 - 3 Powertrain - 30303 Power train engine cooling.
I can pick out 2.2 Duratorq, 2006 2014, Rear wheel drive, 100PS, Puma.

Transit 2014?

Water Manifold And Hoses; 2.2 Duratorq TC; Transit 2006-2014; Transit 2014-; All 4 Wheel And Rear Wheel Drive; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 155PS; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 125 PS; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 100PS; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 140PS; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 135PS; 2.2L Duratorq 16v TC (155PS) - Puma.

CR TC I4 DSL 100PS - CR TC I4 DSL is this the code that is seen referred to on some web pages? I guess it reads CR common rail, TC turbocharged, 14 last yr of manufacture, DSL ?

Cooling System Pipes And Hoses; 2.2 Duratorq TC; Transit 2006-2014; All 4 Wheel And Rear Wheel Drive; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 155PS; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 125 PS; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 100PS; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 140PS; 2.2L CR TC I4 DSL 135PS; 2.2L Duratorq 16v TC (155PS) - Puma.
I can recognise some of the pipework.

Anyone know what DSL means as applied to a vehicle?

Don't know - your van, not mine, that's why i stopped at the page with the list rather than give you a page from that list
- There are at least 3 housings accredited to the 2.2 with sensors screwed into them ..in those links.

also confusing engine names puma - Duratorq -
You're lucky you haven't got the 1.8 .as its called the lynx , Duratorq, and Endura .

Sorry to be a pedantic twat, but I'm well aware of the list of different engines etc, there's a difference between cyl head temp sensor and coolant temp sensor....the one I listed was for the "Euro-5" 2.2 cyl head....which "doesn't" show the "cyl head temp sensor" which is what I was asking about, The Euro-4 doesn't have the coolant temp sensor in the thermostat housing like the Euro-5 but does have a cyl head temp sensor.

This one for the Euro-4 2.2 does indeed show the cyl head temp sensor...here:

http://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l= ... NSsxMzM%3D

And the Euro-4 thermostat housing...which "doesn't" have a coolant temp sensor..:

http://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l= ... MSsxMzM%3D

But the Euro-5 "does" have the coolant temp sensor..:

Thank you metalworker0 and Knobby.
Your contributions have helped to clarify what needs to be done to use Catcar.

Filling in the oblongs (info re' vehicle) reduces the number of results - for 2.2 RWD the results are for that type of vehicle.

I also had to find info' to fill in the oblongs = I now know more than I did this morning.

You will probably have to look up the ford part numbers on ebay to find out what the opening temperature is supposed to be.

Once you have the engine warmed up and the cooling has settled into steady state, like driving on a long stretch of dual carriageway or motorway, the temperature should cycle gently when monitored with forscan or ids.
An 88 deg C thermostat should show a peak at about 90 to 92 and a low of no less that 80. The engine load value should be in the 40 to 70% range, this may only be available to ids - I've not looked for it in forscan.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Thank you V8dave.
I have had problems with ebay items not being what they are advertised as.
Thanks for the suggestion I'll have a look later.
I'll take the thermo' out, see if there are any numbers on it.
I know a long enough run where the temp might not vary too much if I go when there isn't much traffic. Most'y hills and corners where I live.
I have done several runs with Forscan on. I am getting used to what to include/what to do etc.

If you enter your vehicles VIN number into catcar, or https://ford.7zap.com/en/car/ then it will give results specifically for your vehicle

Doesn't always work unfortunately...put my VIN into it and it spat out that I have a Euro-4 2.4 which is correct....but it also shows it having FWD drive shafts.. Can't say I've seen one of them lately.
