The same procedure is used on a Mk6 to code the key fob.

What Altransit said, you front battery is fugged or close to it.....get them properly load tested.

Alex-9000 wrote:Both are cooked. Rear one tested at 87Ah, front at ~250Ah. Will get them both replaced. Question is, is this what caused the rough idle/stall? If so, could someone explain how? Is it just a matter of not enough current to the glow plugs or injectors or something? I would have thought that while the van is running the current is supplied by the alternator, but perhaps at low RPM it couldn't provide the juice.
Was also thinking that earlier in the drive i briefly felt what felt like a turbo lag/stutter (dont know the correct term), could be related... Bought this van from auction, this is what i signed up for!

Be sure to swap them front to rear every 6 months or so to share the load. Front battery does most of the work.
