Injector seals driving me mad

Postby richardw » Sun Jan 23, 2022 3:48 pm

I had some oil pooling around the base of my injectors on my MK7 euro5 - no 3 and 4

So I replaced the injector copper washers and rocker cover seals but it’s still happening ( see attached )

What am I missing ?, I’ve recut the bass of the hole , cleaned injector face and renewed both washers

But still leaking on the outside ( not inside ) of the rocker cover seals

Crankcase breathing normally

Have you fitted the clamp bridge the right way up?
If it is upsidedown it does not actually clamp the injectors.
Also were the copper seals genuine ford? They should be quite thick, thicked than an ordinary copper washer of the same diameter would be.

edit: the clamp issue might not be relevant to a euro5 from 2014 onwards....
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Thanks for reply Dave, aftermarket washers 2mm thick - do you think the dealer washers might be better ?

Swapped to genuine injector seal from Ford having tried aftermarket / reeming twice , problem sorted

Never using aftermarket seals again !
