Flywheel/clutch rattle

Postby waerhy » Tue Nov 29, 2022 8:56 am

recently started to develop a rattle when pressing the clutch. Am I right I thinking my van is blessed with a dual mass flywheel?

They usually rattle with your foot off the clutch in neutral though...not when pressing the clutch. :?

Is it the release bearing causing your rattle..?? Can you feel it through the clutch pedal..??

I cant feel it through the pedal, and it is silent when my foot is off the clutch. soon as I press it the rattle comes on

Just noticed this morning, the rattle only comes on for the first 30mm of travel on the pedal. When fully pressed the sound dissapears

Probably the DMF then..not much else it can be. They don't have a spigot bearing, so can't be that.

just had my DMF replaced , 190,000 miles on the original , it all had a light rust colour on it , I had the rattle noise when the clutch was fully depressed , LUK new parts fitted , the noise has gone , friction plate was still ok but flywheels were toast .

Mine is on 150,000 now and the rattle is slowly getting worse. I dont get any clutch slip at all. Been quoted 825 for the clutch kit, flywheel and fitting. Is that about the going price?
