Fault code P0089-7A-28

Postby mark T » Tue Mar 21, 2023 8:23 pm

2008 transit 2.2TDI FWD
I had my van go into limp mode.
Run DTC and the above fault code appaered.
Assumed it was the SCV.
Changed that together with the fuel pressure relief valve and fuel pressure regulator sensor.
Ran pump learn.
But the bl**** code is still there and van in limp mode.
Ran the fuel pressure check at idle ecu wants it to be 23000 kpa and actual ranging from 21000 to 23000.
Any one point me in the right direction as i am a bit stumped.

Were the SCV & PRV "genuine" Ford or Denso items..?? If not you'll struggle to get the learns to complete successfully...or they will usually fail soon after.

The rail pressure sensors very rarely fail so refitting the original may help.

ok went out this morning to change back to the original sensor.
Thought i would run live data again and now my fuel pressure has gone through the roof.
Changed back to original sensor and the pressure still massivly high.
Any clues?

When you say "massively high", what is it actually.?? Cranking fuel pressure and idle rail pressure..??

At idle it’s at 120000 will check cranking when I get into the garage.
I don’t know if it’s relevant or just a symptom of limp mode but the turbo had also stopped working.

120,000 what..?? Idle rail pressure should be 230bar +/- 10%.

Ok was able to spend more time on van yesterday.
The fuel rail pressure was 500 bar and no matter what I did I could not get it down. Couldn’t do pump learn as pressure too high.
Some how I had ordered 2 SCV,s so out of desperation I put the second new one in. Bingo worked like a charm managed pump learn. Test drove it and it drove better than ever. Happy days. Stopped started all day long.

Went out this morning van wouldn’t start just got it going and fuel pressure is back up to 5/600 bar. It does not make sense to me. Tested pressure sensor 12v on live good ground on other and 2v on sender wire.
Tested wire on SCV got a good 12v on orange wire. Didn’t test other wire as not sure what I should be measuring.

It’s as though the SCV is staying open hence the high fuel pressure. But why after leaving it overnight this has now happened on 2 occasions. Very confusing.

Are they "genuine" Ford or Denso items..?? If they're cheap ebay or similar items, they just cause grief, fail to work properly etc...
