oil leak

Postby gofer » Fri Aug 10, 2007 7:13 am

mk6 2.4, oil leaking from between vac pump and water pump, not unusual
apparently. any way whats the best fix.
a, another metal gasket from fords
b, make my own from gasket material.
c, try and seal with gasket compound.

it's usually the vacuum pump itself leaking - if thats the case a new vac pump will be needed

Mine seems to be leaking from there or I assume so as its on the passenger side of the engine, is this something that a main dealer warranty would cover?

Also if not how much should I expect to pay a garage to replace this

So I might as well just get it done at a garage and replace the pump to save messing around. Just need to get an idea of costs really

I don't do Splinters, there to uncomfortable, and cost more to repair.

Anyway just found out, the vacuum pump was replaced 17000 miles ago, doh, hm I can feel a head ache coming on already, should have kept with the 91 tranny
