Engine pressure at oil filler cap 2.3 Petrol 2005

Postby Chilly07 » Wed May 31, 2023 10:01 am

Hi,

Have just purchased a 350,rwd , jumbo 2005. Flat battery and no drive. Suspect clutch u/s unless a DMF is fitted then another possibility.

Got the battery fully charged up and started today. Ran for about an hour as it’s not been run for a long time.

When I undid the oil top up there is quite a bit of pressure coming out. Not really able to hear on the video but you can when standing next to it.

My question is how normal is this? As in do these have pressure or am I looking at internal engine issues. Should I be then changing the clutch/flywheel becomes engine out rather than gearbox.

Should it be the engine has some issues what’s the choice on replacement in upgrading.

Cheers

Chilly

I've read here many times, that this pressure you are seeing can sometimes be caused by the sealing washers leaking on the injectors. so don't write-off your engine yet'..find that out first, then you'll know if the engines coming out or the gearbox .

I SHOULD HAVE READ THE TITLE ..

So ...

Sorry looks like you may have engine wear issues, or breather pcv valve issues ..check breather pcv ,..if it has that set up

Hi I cannot see any video of the engine? If the engine is junk it may be easier to get one of the V6 engine fitting kits that you guys in Australia have access to.

Was there a sudden blast of trapped pressure when remove cap? Any engine condition would pressure up if built-up blow by gases get trapped by a plugged PCV system

I cannot remember now. I did come back and look for answers but they dried up for a week. Then I was on holiday, several 50th birthdays, busy with work and life.
I have replaced the clutch. Engine ran like a dog due to various sensor issues. Vehicle had been standing for some time. Slowly working through them. Mostly a clean and reset.
Van is driving better he more I run it but a couple of issues to resolve which maybe down to too much fuel dumped into exhaust.

Thanks for the help
