Immobiliser

Postby Chug » Mon Nov 20, 2023 10:51 pm

Having some intermittent issues with the immobiliser and I've looked in BEMM but cannot find any circuit/wiring info for the immobiliser, does anyone know if there are any relays/modules/fuses associated with the immobiliser other than the transponder ring around the ignition barrel?

Sometimes the immobiliser light behaves as normal but turning the key to the crank position does nothing, and sometimes the light flashes rapidly and then it definitely doesn't start, but most times it starts fine, I have noticed when it doesn't start but the light is behaving normally if I go from ign off straight to the crank position quickly then it does a brief try of the starter, after doing this a few times then it suddenly cranks normally and starts, Both batteries have been replaced with brand new as I know poor batteries can cause problems. Ign switch on back of barrel removed and all looks and feels ok as does the transponder ring round the barrel.

I'm trying to find a S/Hand Ford key fob to program in to rule the key out, don't wanna risk the thief bay aftermarket ones that may or may not program

Resistance can be on the supply or return. Damaged wire poor connector/connection, poor earth contact. Can also be a damaged power switch as is on the starter key.

Eliminate units/wiring/connectors.

Take the starter motor off and check that it works ok (can be checked on vehicle). Take the starter switch unit off the stater key check it works ok.

No starter is fine tranmx, it's a key/immobiliser issue, it starts fine usually, but a few times recently its immobiliser light flashes rapidly then gives code 11 = immobiliser module/transceiver ring/wiring problem. But I cannot find any info on this immobiliser module or where it is located, as far as I'm aware there is just the transceiver ring that communicates with the PCM to identify the transponder chip in the key, if recognised the PCM then allows starting.

Bypass phone app.

Could be a thing needs fitting to the vehicle for the above to work.

If you cannot figure out the issue when the engine doesn’t start, you should check the wiring of the engine immobiliser.

Looks like it 's find out which type of security system is fitted. As you ask where is the immobiliser unit fitted.

Lots of rabbit holes.

Are you refering to a 1994 tipper? I think it was 1996 when immobilisers were factory fitted.

its a 2009 mk7, no aftermaket immob or apps, its an intermittent key transponder/receiver/immobiliser problem.
