Couple of door issues

Postby DanMK7uk » Tue Apr 15, 2025 9:56 pm

High roof mk7 van

Side loading door rather hard to open dont glide nicely- tried wd and white lithium slightly better but not exactly right. Any suggestions?

2nd issue In heavy rain water ingress from two rear barn doors

Door Frame seals look excellent not cracked or deteriorated

Top seals that are above the frame stuck to the body look fine no splits and stuck well.

Im thinking the doors on rear may need adjustment to make a tighter seal is this possible to do ?

Cheers

what are the door rollers like?
If they are shagged, replace then adjust the door.

For the rear seals, you can try standing in the back while someone waters the back of the van with a hose, then maybe you can see it.
Alternatively, cover the seals and inner door frame at the back in flour (or baking powder, bi carb, baby powder etc), close the doors carefully so you don't blow all the powder away, then hit it with the hose.
The powder that gets wet is where the water is leaking in.
Make sure the door seals are seated properly, not lifting away from the frame, being compressed by the closed door etc
