I used Phillips Ultinons in mine. Lasted 2.5years so far and a vast improvement over halogens. Beam pattern is a bit iffy, the peaks are where they should be but a little jagged. Tend to run with levelling set to “1” as I have a fair load of tools onboard.

Plasterer is my official title. But we do plastering, rendering, silicone render, floor screeds, occasional complete bathrooms for select clients (ones that only want us to do it) and other various bits if the clients want us to do it. Even if its not out trade we have a good knowledge base and happy to turn our hands to anything, hence the forums for advice before doing my sideline of mechanic for the family

Ah cool. Good plasterers always in demand.

Bathrooms can be “emotional” lol you just never know what’s behind them tiles lol is the wall coming with them or not !

Yes, where would we be without this place.

Not seen any led that work properly with mk7 lamps
Maybe Phillips led for the H4 but they're around £50...... worth it if they work properly with correct image but a lot of money if they don't...
traffic cops say law requires lights that are LED to have automatic height adjustment or not legal

As I understand it, the law now prevents you from upgrading a vehicle that has halogen bulbs, to HiD gas discharge or LED (even though they may be better). You may struggle to get through an MOT, depending on the vigilance of the tester. You would need headlamp leveling and depending on the size of the headlamp itself, a cleaning system also (wipers and/or washers).

I changed the bulbs in one of my older cars some time ago and there was a real improvement. They were not higher wattage, just 50% brighter...and no risk of falling foul of the law. I can't remember the make of the bulb kit (it was just 2 bulbs in a plastic box) but they worked well...although had a shorter life.

Yes that was my thoughts on converting too, heard that myself mot wise tho no big deal our headlights are so easy to pull out to change a bulb. (I find it easier to remove anyway)

Were they like those blue tinted ones ?

I might try some only 10 quid a pair see how they last

I got the white ones (although there were blue or yellow tint options). Made a genuine difference. One of them only lasted about 18 months and when I swapped it out for an original bulb you could really see the difference.

I'd get some more for my van, but with the front fogs, the light is okay on dark roads and in the rain.

I also installed H4 Philips Ultinons, they give a lot of light and visibility. Not allowed according to the Dutch MOT because the automatic height adjustment is missing, but just change it to normal H4's for the inspection. Just adjust your lights properly taking your weight into account. In other EU countrieslike France it is often allowed, but I don't know about the UK.
