Judder or shaking on accelerating

Postby Colin K » Wed May 21, 2025 10:54 pm

Hello. Well all going great with her but has developed a judder or shaking when I accelerate mainly. Changed both prop shaft hanger bearings the box and axle seem ok. I thought I’d found it when found a bolt missing from the rubber donut between box and prop but nope. Cannot see any play in the two U/J’s but perhaps under pressure might be gone ?

Any thoughts kind folk, Cheers. Col.

Hello chaps Thank you for the pointers. The tyres are pretty new and you know I was thinking the dohnut quite soft when it began to get worse. Putting her in forward then reverse I thought it was rear end so crawled under. What do you think of this UJ rust marks look sus ??

Is that the pin rollers we can see in the left of the UJ..?? If so, your UJ is munted...just replace it. The rust marks don't look good either, the opposite side rollers might be done for...stick a pry bar in there and give it a good yank.

Hello mate thanks for the reply.

Yup you got it the bearing that the rust is coming out of has some movement and it moves a lot in and out too exposing the opposite rollers.

Typical nowhere open today blooming B/H :)

Recon I will swap both of them and will see how much the dohnut is too I guess.

All the best and thanks again, Col.
