Fuel Filter Fitment

Postby soggz » Thu Jun 12, 2025 4:50 pm

Hi guys. Just a quickie.
Couple of years ago, I change my fuel filter as part of its service. My fuel filter has a yellow spout on the bottom at the side, but a plug in the middle with a wire coming from it. I went to get a new filter from Ford and they gave me a new filter with a yellow screw on round spouted plastic bit, but with no ‘plug socket’.
I asked about it and the technician just told me to unscrew the new yellow one, unscrew the old yellow one on the old filter, and screw it onto the new one. Is that right? It the wire connector just that yellow round thing? Or has the older filter have something in it which the wire plugs into?
Thanks in advance.
All the best.

It’s a water in fuel sensor iirc, most vans don’t have it

So what happens if it’s not connected?
Will I get lights come on?

Nothing will happen... It just won't deted water in the filter/fuel...No fault codes or lights will be thrown.

Just fit the old water sensor to the new filter...prety simple.

As our Ned says...some Transits don't even have the sensor fitted as standard.
