Mk7 remap removal

Postby MinorMatt » Mon Jun 16, 2025 3:24 pm

If you have a mk7 (in this case a euro 4)....

Can you remove a remap with IDS and revert to factory settings?

I'm looking at a van that has excessive smoke when giving it a bit of welly. No idea if its mapped or not - but would rather make sure it isn't as part of the diagnostic process

If it is black smoke, I'd be looking for a boost leak, boost pipe, inlet manifold or intercooler split etc...

No, you can't remove or install a map using IDS or Forscan.

I was under the impression that a 'factory' reset would remove any maps :?

Good question...when I did the "factory reset" to get all the central locking and strange settings back to factory...it was the same after, I have a "Bluefin 170" map on mine and it didn't change.

For me to remove a map you need to flash the firmware again.
It's not something coming from a settings part.
