G'day I've got a 2001 model transit van 2.4 diesel mwb, a fortnight ago I had an accident rear ending a corolla. Bumpers trashed but no mechanical damage ,was going fine, then on the Sunday, I went out and about ,put diesel in then 1.2 klms later it just cut out at the traffic lights now it cranks but does not fire I've changed the fuel and the nrma mechanic said he thought it could be the ignition immobiliser , I've checked most wires in engine bay it doesn't look like any have broken any clues to what could be the problem? I've got two full charged batteries in as it was a hydraulic service vehicle it runs two batteries. Would be great to not have to get public transport all over Sydney for work. Thanks . Craig D

it's a tddi ....the hi pressure diesel pump ...mounted on the top of the pump is the EDU, also called EDC - this is an electronic module that controls the pump
it is common for these edu / edc modules to fail and bring up the codes you listed

Check wiring first and fuses .

No faults found..then do this to get it repaired.

Put the following phrase's into ebay

PUMP EDC transit

or

PUMP EDU transit

and looks like there is only one vendor left doing it at £89, last time i did this , only two years ago there were lots and as low as £50.

instructions from listing

Remove EDC module from pump without causing damage to the IAT Sensor or Solenoid Wires)

CLEAN the EDC Module (We do not accept soiled modules in for repair, if you send a dirty EDC, it will be returned untested)

Place the EDC in a small Jiffy Bag ONLY (Do NOT send it in old brake pad boxes, clutch repair kit boxes, food storage containers, etc, do NOT wrap it in dirty old rags, towels, blue roll, bubble wrap, or any other rubbish you wish to dispose of, The EDC module is strong and tough, it does not need excess packaging, its unnecessary!

Write your Name, Address, Telephone number and the Vehicle Details which the EDC came off onto a piece of paper, and include it with your EDC when sending into us for repair.

On the 2012 there is a fuel cut out solenoid which stops the fuel flow when a collision occurs. It is located on the lhs accessed via the glove box/fuse box on the passenger side.
Maybe the 2001 vehicles has a similar device. Could be a delayed reaction.

Nope...totally different animals. The codes he is getting point to a failed/failing EDC.

Yes, the whole unit comes off and there will be wires between it and the timing solenoid and fuel valve.

Ok it's undone but how does the ribbon wire come out is there 2 little screws holding it in, thank you lord knobrot your a transit God do you work on these vans daily?

The two screws hold the ribbon cable and the sensor to the main body, the black unit the ribbon cable goes into should just pop off the main pump body after the screws are removed, I believe it's just a hall effect rpm sensor, I don't believe there are any wire connectors under the sensor.

Hardly a Transit God ...There's chaps on here who know infinitely more about Transits than myself...I don't work on Transits as my daily job, just a little side hobby as I own a Mk7 2.4 140.....the guys on here helped me greatly when I first bought the van. I'm an aircraft, (mainly helicopers), fuel systems engineer.

Thanks I was mainly worried about not dropping the screws into the pump, so now it needs remapping is that correct.

What needs remapping..?? Only the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) gets remapped as such, it's a separate unit to the pump...The EDC/EDU on the pump usually has a failed Mofset on the little circuit board, these can be repaired/replaced.

PCM Mapping or EDC/EDU repair..? They're two separate things.
