Coolant leak

Postby Grimnir » Sun Jul 06, 2025 4:49 pm

Hi guys, I have a mk7 euro 4 2.4 with a coolant leak somewhere under the exhaust manifold, do these have core plugs on that side, I would like to have a plan before taking bits off, any advice would be appreciated

Don't think there are any freeze/core plugs behind the exhaust manifold, there are a couple of "screw-in" type plugs on the block, there's a core plug in the head towards the front on the exhaust side, worth checking...Could also possibly be the EGR cooler leaking internally and the coolant coming out through the gasket joint....or even head gasket leaking externally....we've even seen a couple of porous blocks weeping out the sides.
