MK6 RWD 2.4 TDDI 90psi codes p1564 p1664

Postby TheGentleman343 » Tue Jul 01, 2025 10:40 am

Hello all,

I have a Transit 2006 MK6 RWD 2.4 TDDI 90psi with a Bosch vp30 with codes p1564 p1664.

One day in April, it had a rough start, a puff of white smoke out of the exhaust when it started and then was down on power.

The van still starts and drives but has no top end. The engine sounds good. No knock and doesn't sound like a tractor.

Things I have done to attempt to fix.

Replaced EGR.

Replaced the fuel filter housing and fuel filter. (Previous owner had fitted the TDCI housing and filter so I fitted an original TDDI housing and OEM ford filter).

Tested the wiring from the EDC plug back to the ecu socket. Tested and replaced FIP relay (F9). Tested all fuses.

I have connected Forscan and can advance and retard the fuel pump.

Removed the EDC, sent it away to the guy on eBay (dieselpumprepair2). He tested the mosfets and found no issues, but I asked for them to be replaced anyway for future proofing.

Refitted EDC to FIP, I primed the pump, and it started on first key turn. But is still down on power with codes p1564 p1664.

What do I check next? I’m starting to lose my mind.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi Mark.

Thank you for you reply.

I've checked edc plug to edu plug. There's a really good post on here that tells you what pins to test end to end. They all test as expected.

Codes cleared and they appear instantly

Could I potentially have a bad ECU?

Cheers

This answer to the other post has me thinking

On the 2012 there is a fuel cut out solenoid which stops the fuel flow when a collision occurs. It is located on the lhs accessed via the glove box/fuse box on the passenger side.
Maybe the 2001 vehicles has a similar device. Could be a delayed reaction.

Even though its not related according to knobby , but i'm thinking the wiring to this cut off device has to be checked as well as any earths etc, as its 2006 =19 years old and lots of rust and corrosion...a lot of the wiring has to be checked out, as low voltage to these modules will make them create faults... do this before you spend lots of money on a new pcm (ecu) - look on it as a service of the wiring that will keep it running reliably for years more and stop you guessing when something else goes wrong.

Not totally sure the Mk6 has this "cut-off" solenoid. :?:

Someone might know for sure.

Hi all,

There's fuel reduction / cut off on this van. I have removed every plug and wire I can get to on engine. Any potential fray or break has been repaired but I'm still getting the issue.

I've cracked all injectors and they all bubbled a little and then turned to clear jets.

Could it be a turbo issue? I would expect to see DTCs, right? Intercooler? Reduced air flow?

Any advice on what to do next?

Faulty turbo won't stop it from starting. They can even run without the manifolds fitted.

Does it run with a sniff of easy start..?? If not, you may hve cam timing issues.

Hi,

The van still starts and drives but has no top end. The engine sounds good. No knock and doesn't sound like a tractor.

The codes p1564 p1664 are there even with the engine off. If I clear the codes with the engine off, they return instantly.

Could a faulty instrument cluster cause any of these issues?

Cheers

Those codes are still pointing to the EDC/EDU not happy...or the wiring to/from it is not well...have you traced the wires/loom all the way back to the PCM..??
