Clutch advice please

Postby ajpmsport » Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:33 pm

Hi all, 2.4 rwd, 5 speed, I had a new clutch fitted as a precaution, done about 500 miles since. Jumped in the van the other day, clutch would not engage to select any gear. I took the slave cylinder off the Bell housing and noticed the actuator push rod loose from the slave cylinder, is this normal? Can the bar wear? I popped the push rod back in the slave cylinder, still has the rubber gaiter on. The release arm is loose and has a few millimeters play back and forth. Put it all back, bleed it slightly, fluid was ok and full. Drove round the block and can select all gears. Any ideas why it went wrong? Long shot I know. I don't want to take the gearbox out if not needed. Many thanks

You mean the clutch wouldn't "disengage"..?? Does it have a solid or dual mass flywheel..?? The clutch kit is different between the two.
