P0571 code

Postby DanMK7uk » Wed Dec 24, 2025 6:23 pm

Hi guys, how we doing.

Took my 85 out yesterday, dont use it much these days, but thought id give it a run out, shortly into the drive the skid / traction ESP light came on the dash.(stayed on)

My first thought was maybe wheel speed sensor/ bit of corrosion on sensor etc..

Plugged it in today it shows code p0571 brake switch A

Brake lights come on when pedal is pressed.

I did have an issue a while ago, 6 months back or so when indicating it made the rear fog symbol come on the dash. I removed the plugs from the bulb holders, contact cleaned the pins and issue went away, wonder if that is known to cause such a code to throw up if perhaps some corrosion on the actual holder itself. If so il replace it for a ford item.

Any pointers otherwise much appreciated on what else could cause the code and ESP skid light on dash.

Cheers.

I think I’ve got two switches on my brake pedal (euro5 2.2). One operates the brake lights and the other for the ecu I think. Not entirely sure but worth sticking your head down by the pedals. Not sure which is which but worth a look.
