Power steering hose popped out - union nut

New year, new problem!

I have a 2008 ford transit and my power steering hose has recently popped out of the pump and I lost all the fluid....I bought a new union nut and I tried to fit it my hose which it did but not perfectly as I can't push it in properly.


Do I have to change the all hose? Does the new hose come with the nut already attached? Other suggestions? I have a spare union nut but now I can't remove the nut I replaced so I would have to cut it. I am not sure if it makes sense, since I did not work last time

no the hose comes without the nut , the nut it suppose to be torqued into the pump then hose pushes in, stupid idea but it's the way they made it unfortunately , if its a new hose you bought and and a cheap ebay non genuine trying to get them to fit is almost impossible , I've had a few customers , one especially with ebay hose and nuts and sent back faulty for replacements 3 times, and ended up having to get genuine parts
would advise you to buy genuine hose and nut or you'll end up getting stuck when it blows out again
if its still original pipe and non genuine nut you could try getting genuine nut and give it another go

Thank you for the reply. The trouble is that Ford does not produce the nut anymore and in Australia (where I am now) it is hard to find a genuine...

I cannot believe I am stuck for just a bloody nut. I guess I will have to look at auto wreckers...

You have Pirtec hydraulics in Australia seen them on the Bathurst races on YouTube maybe worth a try or a similar company

I sourced one in 2015 for my 2008 from South Aus from this mob...
